Bug Report: First Trip to the Cleft

There is a thread over on that other forum for stack dumps in MOULa. Most of the dumps that look like yours seem to be related to a video issue of some kind... bad driver, unsupported graphics H/W or something video related. Since a dump from Gehn code probably won't match one from MOULa code, I doubt there is much use of going over there. It might be helpful if you listed a bit of your system info... O/S, graphics card, etc...

I have a Dell Inspiron, i5 processor, nVidia GT430 1MB graphics card, and 6GB RAM.....my other account at Myst Online with Cyan, has been working fine with my system ever since I bought it about 6 months ago.

Thanks for any help, or forums you can direct me to.......

That stack trace appears to be corrupted, I'm afraid I can't get anything useful from it.

Is this a consistent issue, or does it only happen sometimes?

Hmmm. Permission problems? Did you install in the default Program Files directory?

Simple solution to permission issues for any flavor of Uru for any shard... when installing, change Program Files in the default installation path to another directory such as ProgramData. You will own ProgramData and have full permission over the files. This is how Gametap solved the issue in MOUL and is the simplest solution to get around Vista and Win7 locking down Program Files.

Thanks johnsojc....! That did it.....! I "uninstalled" the Gehn Shard, which had been in my Programs (x86) folder and re-installed it in a folder I called Programs Dan....and everything now works.

Thanks.....!

There is good and sufficient reason for Windows to lock down Program Files but it really causes we users to gnash teeth and pull hair.

Perhaps the installation program for this shard could be modified sometime in the future to test if Vista or Win7, use an alternate default install path. This would solve SO many problems with installs and updates.

This is definitely something I've thought of.
