Bug: objects with holes [SOLVED]

Postby D'Lanor » Tue May 08, 2012 5:21 pm

I just tried running the Gehn client on my Toshiba laptop and I'm afraid all this "under-the-hood goodness" is not doing it any good. Nor does it stay under the hood... :?

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600, latest Catalyst drivers 12.4

MOULa runs fine on this machine btw.

Whoa. When did you first notice it behaving like this? How long has it done that for you?

Hard to tell. This is not my main gaming computer. It was the first time I played Gehn on that laptop.

The MOULa and Minkata clients work fine on the laptop. So I was merely guessing that it may have something to do with the recent "under-the-hood goodness".

We haven't touched the rendering code, aside from adding SSE3 support to the skinning algorithms. That change wouldn't cause random triangles to be missing from static geometry, however. We are using an updated DirectX SDK, so I would recommend the obvious "update the drivers" in this case.

Downgrading? No thanks. Why do you think the error is on my side? I'm reporting a bug with your client here. You can either fix it, or leave it and hope that no one else runs into the same problem. ;)

Edit: OK, I'll try the downgrade anyway and report back. This isn't my regular gaming computer so I don't have anything to lose.

I must not have made myself clear enough: we have not changed the rendering code.

You are the first person on both Gehn and TOC to report this issue. Therefore, I think it safe to assume, given that we have not changed the rendering code that this is a driver issue. We all know that laptop video cards and their drivers are weird.

Graphics drivers break stuff all the time. In this case, we even have another, much bigger application broken by your same card/driver combo: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4876967911 . Either downgrade your driver, or live with the issue until AMD fixes their code. Either way it's not our bug.

You are right. Downgrading to Catalyst 12.3 fixed it. Still I find it strange that this does not affect the MOULa client. :?
