I can't remember whether the KI light in Descent used to work in Gehn, but it doesn't seem to now.

Are you talking about the KI dispenser (the machine like the one in Gahreesen that you get a KI from), the sparklie on the wall, or something different?

I mean the Ki dispenser, like in Gahreesen, that briefly makes your Ki light up. I've not been back to look recently, but when I originally posted this, it definitely didn't work - but I couldn't remember whether it ever had worked on the Gehn shard.

Nope, I just linked there, it doesn't work on this shard yet ...

I have just visited 3 different neighborhood instances (GoW (1), GoW (5) and GoW (13)) of Decent none of them had a hotspot for the KI Dispenser or the Book Pedestal...

Maybe they could enable the '/KILight' command. It come in handy in other ages during detailed exploring.

I really hate KI commands, for a couple of reasons:

1. They're not easy for users to find. Yes, lots of us know a lot of these commands, but that doesn't make them usable. Lots of people knew DOS back in the day . I think discoverability for new users is important.
2. In general I prefer to find solutions that appear at least somewhat integrated with the universe and story. On Gehn we don't (or at least haven't so far) create events and in-game plot around content, but we do want it to look like it fits in with what's already there. KI commands really don't fit in with the universe. From what we've seen the D'ni made buttons for everything

In other words: I would like to see the KI light brought back and even made useful, but when it happens we are not going to half-ass it. There are lots of things we've decided not to do on Gehn because we want to make sure what we create is as good as it can be both technically and artistically.

Maybe with a bit of work, we could add a KI light button to the KI GUI? I'm not sure how it works myself, but I'm guessing it shouldn't be too hard. I don't know if this would require modifying the existing files.

Anyway, it would make the Descent machine useless.

Not if you need to upgrade your KI to get the light. You don't have the GPS and markers enabled by default either...
Personally I liked the idea of having the light for more than 1 min (30 mins or even an hour) before it turns off and you need to go back to the Tiwah, but then you can't disable it before timing has expired...

Gehn shard should stick to no KI commands apart from those already there from Cyan code.

TOC Moul is the shard with KI commands. The last time I was there visiting "Vothol Gallery", I just got angry at all those weird talks: "warp to 0 50 -40", "no warp to 0 40 -40, it's really awesome", "oh you should try this: be a airplane, fly from 40 5 -30 to 50 -20 4, then transform yourself in a big hammer and do the "Hammer hits the Nail Dance", it's a must"... Ok I'm exagerating just a little bit... but the reality is that explorers with KI commands just become crazy and don't respect the ones visiting an age to immerse themselves.

Let's keep Gehn more basic and without KI commands, if you want to climb somewhere there are 2 possibilities: you can go there so move your avatar you will eventually get there, you cannot go there...well that's the crude reality!
