Testing in the Gehn Shard

Postby Justintime9 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 9:55 am

Hey, so as you probably know, I've been working on Tsoidahl Prad to make it possibly Gehn Shard worthy. Of course it's being tested in Complete Chronicles. The problem is, my computer has a widescreen monitor, and URUCC does not support widescreen, so no matter how I change the settings, it always looks a little stretched. So what would probably look good on Gehn looks sort of distorted, in URUCC. My question is, is there any way for me to test ages with the MOULa engine? Or some offline version of Gehn? (It seems to be superior in a lot of ways to MOULa.) Or if that's not possible, is there any way to make URUCC work with widescreen? I know it wasn't designed to, but is there some sort of hack that would solve the problem?

Sounds like a perfect use for the Destiny shard.

Wow, I haven't even heard of that Shard. Does it support Fan Age testing? According to the site that isn't currently supported. Plus, how do I go about setting it up? It talks about "building an internal client" and stuff. So I can't just copy my MOULa files and put the Server.ini and SDL folder in?

Destuny is absolutely for age testing. I've done it myself and i'm only a beginner! Originally I guess people has to build their clients but Mystler and Christopher have been so good as to do all that for you now, so all you have to do is download the client package... I don't have the links offhand here, but if you PM Mystler or Christopher no doubt they'll set you up! The process of actually getting your age up is very fast too, at least it was for me, because uou onky have to upload the .age file, all the rest if the files you just dump in you own local dat folder like you would in an urucc workflow, so you dont have to upload you ENTIRE age each time you make a change. Looking forward to someday seeing the new improved Tsoidahl Prad!

The Destiny is specifically designed for test usage. You can test changes on the client, but you can also test ages, which are compatible with MOULa.

You can find everything you need to set up the client here.
As Rhee said, we need the .age file of your age. The .prp files are not required. If you send us the file it may take up to one day until we have uploaded it (depending on when I take a look into my Emails). You have to send us the .age file everytime you make a change to it (e.g. adding a new page or changing the sequence prefix, ...). Basically, the server needs the same age file as you have. You may also take a look at the already installed ages to make sure you use a unique name and prefix.

Also remeber that you can only test MOULa compatible ages, so if you are building with blender and pyPRP 1.x you first have to convert your age.

If you have any question, just ask.

Christopher

EDIT: We also have a sub forum, which is only seen by Members of the Destiny, so if you want to test your age in a Multiplayer environment you can share your files there to test it with other players.

I would like to test your age in MOUL environment. Is this possible like Christopher mentionned? All what I need to do is to create an account on Destiny, use an internal client, is that right? Is any fan age open for testing or most of them are for private testing so we cannot access them?

If you experience any errors or unsupported features when using Transfusion to convert your Age from CC to MOUL, please let me know.

To Annabelle: I think the ages are only public if the entire file set has been uploaded... for instance the age I am (maybe not right now as I havw no compy) working on, the shard admins have only ever had my .age file uploaded to them, all the rest of the files (.prp, .fni, and so on) are only located in my Destiny dat folder. If I wanted the age to be public I could send all files, but tgen every timw I made a change that would have to be resent. However, if I wanted just you to do some bughnting while I worked on finetuning some other aspect then I would just send you personally the files which you could then place in your own dat folder.

Oh dear. I sound like I know what I'm talking about ahahaha

Yeah, you can test ages in multiplayer too. All you have to do is sending the files for your age to other players. You can also post them in the WIP or members area of the Destiny forums.

Fan Ages are private by default, but you can ask me to set them on the public age list. Otherwise, it should work to share the age the usual way.

Cool, this sounds promising. But how do I make the age MOUL compatible? Do I need 3DS Max? And do I have to convert it every time I want to test the next version of the age?
