Thanks for letting us join this event. Though I was not able to attend to it while it was running, I watched it afterwards (with some skipping) - and it was interesting.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the broadcast ;)

If we were a real company and were trying to make money, that process wouldn't have taken nearly as long or been nearly as "interesting" :P

Don't be too sure. Have you ever tried Star Wars: The Old Republic? They take their servers down at least 5 hours on each update, and sometimes the update process took the whole day until late in the evening. ^^

Ouch!

I like to take lessons from Guild Wars. One of the original ArenaNet founders, Patrick Wyatt, has a great blog and he often explores things they did for Guild Wars. I try to take lessons from him where I can, though sometimes the things he talks about are best left for extremely mission critical software. And he totally ignores C++11. But Guild Wars could be updated in about 5 minutes without kicking any players off of the game. :shock:
