Book on 3D Game Textures

Postby Marcello » Sun Dec 02, 2007 2:59 am

I'm just back from a few days in London for work. In my few spare hours I found an interesting book at Waterstone about creating 3D Game Textures. It covers concepts of lighting and seamlessness, as well as general Photoshop techniques. Many examples and about 4 or 5 sample scenes of a different nature (urban, sci-fi, fantasy, etc). It also covers the way texturing is implemented in games nowadays, including texture animation.

I have been fooling around with both MapZone and FilterForge and have concluded that those programs are much easier to grasp after having studied the concepts in this book. Once you are able to use the techniques in this book using Photoshop, I expect MapZone and FilterForge to be the next step to doing it faster.
