3DS Max Plugins are available

(Not sure where this should go, and didn't see it immediately on scanning through the forums.)

Chogon has released the plugins. See above for details. (: Happy modeling!

Binaries available

Postby theclam » Fri Mar 05, 2010 3:10 pm

MOULa 3ds max plugin binaries available

Chogon wrote:Another micro-step:
We are releasing the binaries for the MOULagain 3ds Max version 7 plugins.
You can get them at http://cho.cyan.com/bahrowings/MOULaPlugins871.zip

These are as-is and will only (as far as I know) work with 3ds Max verison 7. Please read the ReadMe.txt file included. And please only use these plugins with legal versions of 3ds Max.

This is just one more small step with a *lot* more to come. I am hoping to find some of the plugin documentation albeit outdated and make that available. And we are working on getting the source for these plugins so people can try to create plugins for other 3D modeling software.
Also, we are working on ways to test the output from these files.

Enjoy,
Chogon

No problem.

As Mark said, there isn't a testing environment for any Ages compiled by this plugin. However, it would be interesting to see if Drizzle can convert them correctly.

This is interesting. I can't use the plugin.

I get the following error.

DLL <C:\3dsmax7\plugins\PlasmaMax.gup> failed to initialize.
Error code: 126 - The specified module could not be found.

So I tried Chogon's suggestion

Chogon wrote:It is probably looking for some of the other .dlls that it needs. Theoretically, they should be in the main directory of where you installed MOULagain (binkw32.dll, Nx*.dll, OpenAL32.dll and maybe others). So, you can change your path to include that directory or copy them to somewhere in your path.

--Chogon

And now I get an Application Error, and 3DS Max 7 has to close.

Anyone else having problems with the plugin???

Edit: Thanks to Chogon, got it to work.

So, what did you do to make it working, I.Brattin?

Wow, finally this is the first action they really take to support creating ages. I'm impressed, I had never thought that it would happen so quickly after their recent activity burst. Really looking forward for more to come!

Talk about a nice unexpected surprise. I like to believe that the recent push we made is in part responsible for this. ;)
Chogon mentions they are working on ways to "test the output from these files." which is obviously a good thing, because else these binaries aren't of much use to us as they are. ;)
Although it will allow us to iron out the most common installation issues and give us the time to get a little familliar with that new tool..

Now if only I could get my hands on a trial version of Max 7.. Autodesk only publishes the latest version on their site..

Also: http://cho.cyan.com/bahrowings/ ? That's a new URL to me..
hmm.. access forbiden. Too bad. :p

I tried finding a download link for a free 3ds max trial version of 7, but all I could find were links for download of 2010. Just decided to buy a book from amazon with the trial on cd for $30 bucks

I found a couple links to download the 7 trial but they were all on torrents and warez sites, and my anti-virus was flashing left and right..
I finally got one off a torrent site that looks ok, but I don't think I'll post the link.. :/

I guess that can work; you are aware though that it is a trial and will only work for 30 days?
