In USA & Canada we live with time zones that identified where they are:

NewFoundland (half an hour)
Atlantic
Eastern
Central
Mountain <---- that's where KI time is.
Pacific
Alaska
Hawaii

We only have to make subtractions or additions and there you go! Anyway we are used to time zones. I don't know many that cannot tell what is the time in New York, Chicago & Los Angeles right away & without even think of it just by looking at their own time.


I agree with you. The rest of the world needs to get with the program that Mountain Time is THE ultimate time. If the rest of the world doesn't want to follow suit with the US then it's THEIR problem...

KI Time - DST and other Shards

Just a few more whacks on the dead horse.

- Does KI time honor daylight savings time shifts?

- Is KI time the same for all major shards--MOULa, Gehn, Minkata? I'm thinking they must be or else the Pod portal time sites would not work.

The short answer... yes. But with a caveat.

Currently, MOULa is still using the pre-2007 rules for DST in the USA... the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October.

If I'm not mistaken, at least one (and possibly more) of the shards have updated the DST rules to the 2007 and later rules... the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.

Of course this conflicts with DST (or Summertime) rules in other countries. If any of this is in error, I'm sure someone will yell at me for being so ignorant.

All the times for all the shards should be the same as the time is determined as an offset from UTC, either UTC-7 or UTC-6 (DST).

IOW the only consistent universal option is UTC. ;)

Well, there is the internal game time which is the number of seconds elapsed since 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UT. You will see this in the game logs as DniTime.
