Moving discussions from Cyan's forum to ours

Postby Branan » Mon Aug 01, 2011 8:38 pm

Shorah, everyone.

As I'm sure many of you are aware, Cyan have decided to pare down their forums. We want to make sure we can pick up any slack that's needed as far as Open Source and Age Creation discussion goes, so if anyone feels we're lacking any forum infrastructure in that regard, please poke myself, Hoikas, or Lontahv... or better yet all three of us, since we do tend to miss PMs on occasion.

I maintain my own web page on the Inyan Natahu (Stone Skull)(Crystal Skull) and am a member of ICSN (International Crystal Skull Network) WMRC (World Mystery Research Center) and IKA International (Interssengemeinschft fur Kristallschadel und alte Hochkulturen)(Community for Crystal Skulls and Old advanced civilizations) all of the animations on my site were developed by me and several that were developed for the others...

Wow, that's a radical, and sort of brutal, change. Makes quite a bit of sense though; it's not like those forums were seeing a lot of activity lately.. Still that's 13 subforums closed.
So I guess we'll have a whole tsunami of new discussions here... Maybe we do need a new moderator as Chacal suggested. :D

Their changing the MOUL forum landscape pretty severely this time, and putting the weight on our shoulders like they said they would last time Randi Miller was in the caverns as Randi Miller. All we can do now is prove we can carry the burden of what they just gave us and take Uru to the next level

...What weight?

...For that matter, what Uru? Things are looking pretty dead to me.

@Aloys: We really don't need new moderators at all, either. There's a bunch of them already, and I'm sure they can handle it just fine - I personally don't trust many outside the current moderators here to moderate well, and moderate in the way we have things run here.

EDIT: on that note, there are /still/ VERY glaring licensing issues with the open source release. Issues that prevent any binaries from being released. Still no word on that one. >.<

I would wait with appointing new moderators until the discussion does actually move here and more are needed. Considering it would have been more sensible to keep the discussion here in the first place and moving here would also be sensible, I don't expect a lot of it.
Code: Select all

I would be surprised if activity increased noticeably here, but even then I think we have enough moderators (though the journal part could be cleaned up, now that we have blogs for that). We can still look out for more of them when the need arises.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.
