Chacal's texture library

Postby Chacal » Wed Apr 14, 2021 8:12 pm

Greetings!

From 2008 to 2015 I was traveling around the world and I collected hi-resolution pictures for the specific purpose of making a texture library for Uru Age builders. I have now published them as public access albums in Google Photos.

Most are 3072 x 2304 and were taken from about 1 meter at right angle from the surface. In many cases, when the surface was large enough, I took a mosaic of 9 pictures arranged like this:
123
456
789

I also have two albums with images intended as inspiration for Age builders.
Inspiration 1 has images taken at the same time as texture images, in some cases they show the scenes from which textures were taken.
Inspiration 2 has images from the web, I made no note of their source and did not produce them. This one I published in 2012 actually, I just moved it to this new library.

This is an incredible gift for all Writers and a very comprehensive resource, thank you Chacal.
I will definitely try to incorporate some of your textures in my own work :)

Thank you so much, Chacal! So many beautiful images, many I can see I would like to use, as Deux said. :)

Cool ! Free high res textures are usually hard to find. I'm glad you could shoot so many. I hope you had fun traveling everywhere :P (it really sucks that tourism is now impossible due to covid... let's hope this thing blows over quick.)

Hmmm, I'm thinking maybe we could also start a Wiki page with URLs to various assets useful for builders. We have your textures, the high res Cyan ones, I recall there was an initiative to make a library of 3D objects for builders to use too at some point...

I was traveling to international ISO meetings, with a little time for tourism on the side.
Sure had a lot of fun, and apart from textures I also brought back a wife and kid.

I swear I didn't know I had these in my luggage, officer. Someone must have slipped them in when I wasn't looking.
