EDER BEROVAH is a Garden Age with a specific purpose other than rest and relaxation. It is a "garden age" in the sense that things are grown and harvested here. From the link-in point, a meandering path leads you past eerie vegetation that resemble upside-down pine trees. These are called NOJULAS and their purpose will soon be revealed. Rambling among the Nojulas trees are white furry tumbleweed-like creatures called JALENES. Their function is to guard the Nojulas but from who or what? The Jalenes seem almost cognizant with a basic form of intelligence that borders between instinct and intellect. Nojulas trees were harvested from Eder Berovah for the Feast Of The Maker. They twinkle and sparkle at night emitting pleasing tones, but as it seems to be always daytime here, making night fall in Berovah is the trick.
The central path leads to a stone plaza with a tall stone monolith in the middle. A knob on the monolith emits a five-note tune when turned. Scattered around the age are five smaller stone plinths which each emit one of the five tones heard from the monolith. When all five plinths are activated in the proper order heard from the monolith, a doorway opens on the monolith revealing a hidden room. Entering the room, an explorer finds three levers. One lever resets the plinths and stops the music. Another closes the door behind you with no exit except Relto link out. The third lever starts a ticking countdown which is your signal to exit the structure and await the payoff.
The purpose of the monolith and its five plinths is now revealed. They emit frequencies that maintain perpetual daylight in the Age until the correct tonal sequence is activated. Once thus activated, the monolith powers down and allows night to fall in Berovah. Nighttime allows the Nojulas trees to begin their symphony of light and sound. D'ni citizens would have until the monolith repowered itself to pick out a tree for harvesting and transport back to their homes.
