Ceremonial Statue

Postby D'eux » Fri Apr 11, 2008 11:27 pm

I'm haven't quite made up my mind as to whether this will find its way into my current Age or not. Basically, the idea is for a ring of several of these statues, each clasping a stone disc that needs to be rotated to a specific setting, creating a total 'combination' that will er... do something:

It looks fantastic, D'eux! It seems to fit the nature of your age, at least what you've revealed to us so far.

And in order to rotate objects, you can look at the sample code that Lontahv posted here.
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

Your stuff always looks like it's ready to be published. I'll admit I'm jealous my stuff doesn't look as good.

That aside, it looks good. Will we find out what happens when you rotate the disk, or is it a secret? :)

*envy rising*

How do you get that cool effect of the picture? I'm guessing lineart in Adobe Photoshop or something?

Thanks for the comments folks, glad you like this stony fella.

Robert: Appreciate the pointer re: coding the rotation. That's where I'm definitely out of my depth and you guys can more than assist :)

GD: As yet, I really haven't decided what it will do - but I do want it to be something kinda special. Something related to whatever intelligence is actually inhabiting my Age.

Nek: Yes, it's all Photoshop - I don't really use anything else for illustration work actually. The basic details are drawn/painted up and then I use various layer effects and hand painted texturing to add the depth and give the image its look/feel. It probably looks alot more than the sum of its part tbh.

With all the work you put into these images, are you planning to put some kind of IC development journal? Because that would be neat. :D
