Today I decided to create the journal cover for a journal in Yinfara (my age) and, after a bit of work, I created this:

Now, there WILL be a symbol in the middle at some point, but it won't be added for awhile, so for now, just imagine it with a symbol in the center. Anyway, do any of you have any suggestions as to how I could make it better? (e.g better shading in some area, etc.) I want to make this as good as possible :D

I thought your cover looked great the first time. That's why I did not reply earlier.

The symbol you've added looks good and matches the apparent age of the book. Reminds me slightly of a butterfly, but you probably have some other meaning in mind. :)

If you want to embellish the book more, I might suggest some edging. Either stitched leather or crimped metal around the edges to prevent scuffing and fraying of the edges.

You're getting good at Photoshop.
I agree about the edging, it would give it a look of practicality.

hmm... so should I just give it metal edges? if so, what color metal do you think would fit the design of the book?

I've always been fond of brass.
