Ah, it only seems to work for me - when I'm logged in that is...
Probably because it still needs to be reviewed by GoMe staff.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

That probably explains it then.

Edit: Yeah even logged in at GoMe, I can't see it. I expect till its approved that it will continue to not show up.

Trylon wrote:I had this idea today when working on some backstory for an age of mine:
What about a backstory contest?

The concept:
Contestants take an already released Age (does not need to be an Age of their own), and write a short/long story around that age. The story has to respect established Canon for that age, and established D'ni canon, but beyond that, no restrictions apply.

Judging categories could be:
- how well does it fit the age
- how compelling is the story
- quality of the backstory used
- support items (drawings, separate notes, items, etc....)

Ok, clearly I'm not qualified to propose judging categories for stories ;)
Anyone got ideas/opinions?

Which ages, then? I haven't downloaded any of the new ages yet, but I'd love to participate.... Can someone tell me:
-where and how I can download an age
-What the requirements to view the ages are
Thank you very much!

-Allatwan, Uru and Riven fan. Yes, I am aware that I am very new here and don't know much about age-writing, but I'll try put up something not too lame around here.
Shorah! Peace to everyone, Dn'i, Ahrotahn, Bahro... have a good day!

The wiki page for Playing Fan Ages should contain all the information you need. It offers two way to get these ages, I personally suggest Drizzle/UAM and Offline KI to visit the ages (which isn't that much of a surprise since I am one of the developers ;-) ), you can find additional information and ask questions about these in the Drizzle and Offline KI subforum here on the GoW.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

Yes folks,, we reserve the right to review, before we publish. Spammers ya know. It was in 'pending' is why it wasn't viewable. Approved now and on the Front Page News, and the previous link Trylon posted works also.

Ok, time to get this back to life

If you want to join up (as contestant or judge) please post below, I'll try to compile a list of contestants and judges as soon as possible.

I'll be a contestant if the deadline is far enough in the future. There's a lot coming up in RL and I may have to drop out, but until then, I'm in.

Props to you Trylon :) ! I think this is a wonderful idea, and it should help to push to the surface some of the great storyline ideas that a lot of our fellow guildsmen possess. As a freelance writer I highly recommend this type of competitive writing, as it tends to get everyone's creative juices flowing(and that leads to more appealing and creative writing). When it's a go, count me in!

Necromancy!

This thread may actually hold merit in revival though; holding more contests is sure to breathe a bit more life into the community... especially if you can win something on top of the competition - intangible or materialistic.

That said, I'd also be up for writing a back-story for this.
