Corel is giving away free copies of Paintshop Pro 10

I bought this version two years ago and like it more than 11 or 12.
Lot's of texture and graphics editing tools in this software. Supports many file formats including 16 bit PNG with alpha transparencies needed for Uru. Create alpha masks from grayscale textures to make lens flares that fade.
Takes many plug-ins like flaming pear and Nvidia DDS utilities.
Seamless texture tool blends image edges so photo textures can be tiled.
Highpass filter takes the brights and darks out of photo textures so they tile without nagging repeating spots due to flash.
Get it!

Hmm. For any English version you need to give personal info plus an email address while the other language versions are downloading immediately. I guess Corel thinks only native English speakers are worth spamming. :D

Heh,
just use this link: http://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_EN_LEXAR_Retail.exe to go directly to the English download, without having to fill in any personal info.

Don't worry the updater will spam you no matter what language you use.
Still, you can't beat the price. :)

I'm sure the app is good...Just worry about the reason?

Jasc went out of business and Corel bought Paintshop. Paintshop is their low end product about $50. CorelDraw is their high end app at $499.

Since Corel aquried Paintshop they have come out with an upgrade about once a year. The reason they give away version ten is they are going to immediately try to get you to upgrade to version 12. Most of the upgrades don't really give you that much more. Usually it just changes to the control interface. The good drawing parts of the program have gone into CorelDraw and Paintshop has moved toward being a photo editor.

On the other hand this program gives you everything you need to make textures for Uru. You don't have to upgrade. Free is a good price or you can pay big bucks for commercial Adobe Photoshop or CorelDraw.
