Here's another sketch I made a few years ago, based on a picture of one of the islands off the Oregon coast, I think. I was planning to make it a d'ni greenhouse, but I never did anything with that idea.

Ooh, I like that. Very different from the typical "island plopped down in the sea".

The only thing is that you need to be away from it to actually appreciate the view...maybe somehow have a viewing platform apart from the island, as the link-in or even link-out point, so you can appreciate the island's shape at the end.
