Clipped Avatar Shadow?

Postby D'eux » Fri Mar 07, 2008 11:50 am

Being a noob again and trying to relearn everything I knew before *and* combined now with a newer plugin, I have a few questions.
An avatar shadow seems to be a new thing on the menu that I didn't have a year ago and although I've searched for the answer here, I couldn't find it in plain English. Despite using several 'Bounds' methods, my avatar's shadow still seems to be clipping short of the feet and at times it almost looks like the avatar is floating a few inches above where the shadow is cast.

Is there a fix/tweak/setting for this behaviour?

Thanks,

This is because the shadowMaster is being given a ridiculously large attenDist by the plugin. You can fix this by setting the "sphere" button on the properties of the light that is casting it, and/or by reducing the "dist" property on the light, ... or by waiting for the plugin to implement a sane method of determining this value.

Nadnerb,

Ah ok, thanks for explaining this. I did see something in my search results that discussed this but didn't pick up on it being a setting within Blender, so I really appreciate the pointer.

Thanks!
