Sounds Not Working

Postby D'eux » Thu Mar 20, 2008 4:46 pm

I hope you can help as this is now really starting to get to me...

I've been struggling to get a sound working in my Age and no matter what I do I just can't hear it. I have checked the following things:
- .ogg file is in the \sfx folder
- .wav is in the \sfx\streamingcache folder
- .wav is importing into the Video Sequence Editor
- emitter names and filenames are correct
- volume is turned up in URU/headphones

I'm getting footstep sounds, no problem. And I don't get any errors on exporting the Age.
This is the script I'm using:

Code: Select all
SndAmb01:
    type: soundemit
    sound:
        flags: loop | start
        file: Ambient01
        volume: 1
        type: Ambience

I've tried all the other 'type' settings (SoundFX, BackgroundMusic etc.) and even Paradox's alternatives (localonly, autostart etc.) from the 'Adding Sounds' wiki article. All to no avail. What else could possibly be wrong??

Thanks,

-: D'eux :-

Just a check, your AlcScript here has 6 spaces as an indent for all of the items under sound. Is that a 4-space indent in Blender? 6 spaces probably won't get parsed properly by the AlcScript exporter.

Otherwise everything looks good

Sorry, yes that was typed for the purpose of the forum, but the original Alcscript does have the correct spacing.
But still no sound :( As I say, footsteps are heard ok and the Age exports without error. The .wav file plays fine in an external player, as does the .ogg.
Just nothing in the Age itself.

EDIT: Just to add that I took a look in the .log file for the export and this is all I have for the sound section:

Code: Select all
[Sound Emitter SndAmb01]
 [Coordinate Interface SndAmb01]
 [LogicHelper]
   No actions in list
None
   Exporting modifiers
   No modifiers
None

Does that look about right? Or should there be some more information in there (filename etc.)?

The script shows the old type sound flags. That definately will not work in 1.3.0 and later.

Also keep in mind that the actual flags are different too, not just their notation. http://guildofwriters.com/wiki/Adding_S ... ound_Flags

EDIT: Success! Installed Totoise SVN and grabbed the latest build of files and everything works brilliantly.
Thanks guys.

Wait a moment... you just said version 1.3.0!?
Ahhh.... from the list of GoW PyPRP plugins on the Wiki, the 'latest' is 1.2.1 I think. Damn that out of date Wiki!
I'll go download version 1.3.0 then :)

Thanks,
