Importing age to Blender - how?

Postby Makavelina » Sun Jun 22, 2008 12:32 pm

Hello again :)
I was trying to find out the textures, but noone replied and I was not able to do it myself. Today someone gave me advice, that I can import age that is already made (for example on of the fan ages, Sonavio) and I can study textures on it in Blender. Can anyone pls tell me how to import an age to blender? Thanks...

Importing ages is not the way to go if you want to learn about how complex texture stuff works. You would have to use an old version of pyprp and that would import with the old style of texturing. So, the information you got from any fine point of the texturing would be pretty wrong for the new version. Is the texturing that you want to know more about, a blender or pyprp thing? If it's a blender thing, there are tons of tutorials. If it's pyprp... well, if you only want to do texturing for most things; it's pretty simple and matches the blender documentation.

What are you trying to do/learn here? :)

EDIT: Ok, you're having trouble with the layers. Which layers? The ones in material panel? That age in the tutorial is pretty hard. Most of the stuff in that tutorial we didn't have a year ago. I'd suggest trying to do some stuff with UV unwrapping (find a good blender tutorial about that) and then try using that for your landscape texturing (at least until you get more comfortable with blender). :)

You know, I am not native english speakers, so it is sometimes hard for me to understand some phrases. I was going through the tutorial and I got stuck at Giving it substance. I am doing everything like described in tutorial, but my textures do not look as I would like them to look, and I am sure it is because I do not understand the tutorial walkthroug correctly. If I could have that final .blend file of completely textured terrain which is made in tutorial, I am sure I can understand how it is set up.

Trylon... can you post the finished blend for your "First Real Age" tutorial?
