Swim regions

Postby GPNMilano » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:10 pm

Is there something wrong with the swim regions in PyPRP? Reason I ask is that some people (including myself) get stack dumps when they swim in Eder Licinius' springs. I get stack dumps in every fan age with a swim region, and others can swim in it fine one minute, then get stack dumps the next time they try.

Camp Bravo gives me the same stack dump as Eder Licinius, and its given a few it as well.

I tested the swim regions in these fan ages:
Botan
Hayal(my own age)
Ordovician
Paper Pagodas
TunnelDemo and had no problems in any one.

Then I went to Eder Licinius and got a stack dump while approaching the water. I restarted Uru, went back to Eder Licinius and it worked perfect. I left and reentered the water several times, everything was ok. Then I restarted Uru and again got a stack dump in Eder Licinius near the water. This is really odd.

I don't have Camp Bravo or Zephyr Cove installed at the moment, but can do if I should test them too.

it may be worth noting that I get the stackdump in Eder Licinius BEFORE I go swimming (that is to say, when I am walking towards the Linking Book (to Chloes Office) with the water on my right and the benches on my left) ...

(I too, Like Corvus, have also not had stackdumps in other (swimming) Ages.)

I may well be way off ... but do you think there is a possibilty that this is related to wavesets and animated textures being applied to water at the same time ?
... I noticed that you changed the water in this version of Eder Licinius. (In the original version of Eder Licinius , no-one seems to have had stackdumps, which is also true of Camp Bravo and Zephyr Cove's original versions)
when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...

So far I didn't have any crash due to swimming regions in any age - I was in the water in the new Eder Licinius three times without any problem. The only crashes in fan-ages I had where caused by wavesets (in Zephyr Cove) and by "something unknown" (Odema).
That being said, I remember there being a problem with swimming regions stackdumping people on Alcugs Shards if the link-in point or the point (0|0|0) of the age are below any swimming region (the latter being the case in your age, but also in Camp Bravo). One person could get in fine, the next one crashes. I never heard of that happening offline though.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

This is my experience too, currently using the "2009Mar5" version.
