offset vs offset object

Postby bnewton81 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 11:04 pm

I think i just had a mental breakthrough. When animating textures i have always used an empty as the offset object and animated by moving the empty. I just used the x,y,z offset for the first time and I think that it will make making seamless animation loops much easier, as i can be very precise. I don't understand how to use the curve editor yet to make animations loop and all that yet. Am i right in my assessment of the easier xyz offset?

Yes, you are correct. No, you don't have to worry about the looping. It's automatic... and doesn't slow down to a stop before restarting - like animated objects. If you read the wiki tutorial about Simple Animated Water, it's explained there.

It's simple, and can be used for lots of different things.... from a waterfall to the D'ni Imagers. Good job figuring it out on your own though!! :)
