Problem with ladders...

Postby Singo Berta » Sun Nov 25, 2007 7:05 am

Hello everyone,
I haven't made much noise on these forums yet, mostly because I haven't had anything to say :)
So right now, I'm trying to make a ladder for my Age.
I have been checking the ageladders tutorial on alcugs out ( http://alcugs.almlys.org/wiki/index.php/AgeLadders ), and I'm experiencing some problems.
(remember, I am very new to Agebuilding :) )
In the first tutorial, It says I should add a "generic" region, which I can't seem to find among the other regions. The second tutorial is just... hard :P, and the "old yet flexible way" describes some things I have no idea what they mean.

So, my question is, could someone send me an Age with just a ladder in it, so I could see what it should look like?

Thank you!

Thanks!
Still can't find the "Generic region" option though...

oh yeah, it's just called a "region"

[no sarcasm intended]
I had thought that would be obvious, since you have all kinds of special regions, and only one simple "region" so, that's the generic one
[/no sarcasm intended]

EDIT:
Oops, even I was wrong on this one, it's called a "General Region"

So, another pointless question comming:
How can I move something up "0.42 Blender units"?

Thanks again :)

When you move something you can use the Numpad to enter precise coordinates.
For instance once your object (or vertex, or whatever) is selected you can use [G] (move) then the axis you want move ( [Z] in this case) and thn type 0.42 on your numpad.

Thanks, now that part is working fine :P

Sadly enough, I seem to be an expert in messing up my Blender works, as I can't seem to get things right :(

It would really help if someone made a ladder with climbingregions in Blender, and sent it to me, as I could see how it is supposed to look.

if you haven't yet you can download this .blend file and check it. Theres a ladder region in it. Its a basic ladder thats attached to the wall, but it should give you some idea.

Functionality or go here . Its the page where you can get instructions on what the file is really for.

oh and to add, if you press the N key it will bring up location information of the object and its parts.

Bare with me, I'm pretty slow.
Okay, so, I check where the floor object so on the Z-axis, and then go to my climbregion, and press the N-key.
Thing is, when I type the number I saw on the floor object in the box for the Z-axis, the region ends up in a completly other place!

Please don't get frustrated at me, as I said, I'm pretty slow when it comes to these things :)
