Wow! Thanks for that info -- hopefully some of us can manage to get their heads around it. :7

I take it the waveset is rendered "late", to allow for the creation of the dynamic enviroment map, before going ahead? ..and in that case, that there might be an excuse to change it, if one use a supplied precooked envmap? Hmm, so the value set by passindex is the least significant part here...
I notice that the RenderLevel identifiers are powers of two, allowing the setting of multiple ones, plain opaque excepted -- is there a reason for this, that "we" know of, or is it simply something that should be ignored? :)

Wow, thanks for the help! Should take me a while to get my head around that, heh.

EDIT: took out my question. Should be easy enough to work out what to do through experimenting.
