I'll put it this way: why do we need the Nexus? To link in a nice IC way to our Ages. Good. But the Cyan Nexus is the least glamourous or interesting way to do this. This place is horrible, it's dark and awfully small, and most of all it has zero community/social value. It's a place where people go to alone, and stay in as little as possible. It's essentially a necessary evil. It is exactly what we must avoid recreating.
Unlike the Hood libraries, for instance. When you want to go Garrison, or one of the Eder you can meet people on the way in the hood, interact, talk about the painting above the Garrison book, maybe invite them to come with you etc..
The Community Nexus shouldn't only be a way to link to other places; it should also have a social aspect.
It may not need to be a large hangout spot, but it needs to be different from the Cyan Nexus: larger, nicer, several people should be able to be in there at the same time (several Nexus machines); it should be decorated, and as suggested it should have imagers and boards.

The computer turns off, and then the machine gets the book of the shelf, and then places it on a table in front of you. It then works like a regular book. There would be color scheme differences for the WNexus and Developer Nexus, but that's about it. Like it?
I like that idea a lot, I suggested it myself a while ago (
here).

Whatever actual shape we use, I think it is worth it to sacrifice a couple seconds of loading time.
