You have to select them again to be able to put the texture to the exact place.

I looked into my file again, and I seem to have done things right with UV-mapping, there ARE UV-maps for each of my objects, and there are materials and textures applied.

Yes , probably you did that right, but you did not unwrap in my opinion!
Have pressed the "U" key ever ?

Do I understand you correctly, that the "sizeX", "sizeY", "sizeZ" - settings I should only use, if I use more than one texture?

Basically yes if you want to apply this second texture to the same faces.,
if you already scaled it with the resize function in the uv map window to get the right dimentions, setting other then 1 in x, y and z would alter this.
for a next layer you can want this to happen, but it will always be relative to the UV dimentions you made earlier.

Maybe i write a tutorial to explain this better tomorrow.
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

I see now - that makes it much easier of course :)

Yes, I did that - I also saw the unwrapped meshes in the UV-window. What I didn´t (because I didn´t know how to do that) was to add the texture to the UV-window (as you described).

I´ve now tried out the first example you had posted in the thread you linked earlier, and it worked for me.

Great, thank you again for your invaluable help :)

Now I´ve the ability to do my texture work much faster and more precise I´d ever imagined!

I´ve used my new texturing skills to improve and conclude my two rooms:

I`ve also added a basin with waveset, and my first, basic shelf

Thanks a lot, without your help I wouldn´t have made it!

Now, to the next step :)

Thank you for your kind words! I´ve still much to learn, I hope, I´ll get it someday.

I´ve made some changes to my age:

As you can see, I´ve changed the color of the materials to a darker hue. It´s supposed to be rock, so it shouldn´t reflect that much light, as it did before, so I like the new version a lot better.

I decided to leave the ceiling lighter, because it adds to the feeling, that the room is bigger, than it really is. If I would make the ceiling dark too, the room would seem smaller and depressing. Maybe I´ll change the texture, though.

My first, basic vase. I know, it could have been done better, I´m not absolutely satisfied, mainly because the texture doesn´t tile well, and because some parts of it are a little stretched. I intend to redo this in the future.

Another, close shot of the vase:
