Ok, here's another one. I've finally decided on the terrain mesh I want to use for my age. I made it from a single plane that I scaled, subdivided, textured, then modified to make hills/valleys etc. Pretty simple right?

Well, I thought so until I exported it, (which went fine - no errors), and fired up URU. When I link to my age, the texture shows up as a tiny square barely wider than an avatar. The mesh itself, with collision, is full size. I can walk around on it, and the elevations all seem to be correct - all except the texture.

Any ideas?

Is the texture showing up as just a single image, or is it tiled but too small? If it's just the one image, make sure "repeat" is pressed in the "map image" tab in the texture panel.

It's a 1024x1024 texture that I want to stretch across the entire plane. It was textured through UV mapping.

To try to find out what went wrong and where, I deleted the plane and made 2 copies of the blend file sans the plane. In one I made a smaller plane, about 75x75 and the other a large plane, 150x150. I then made some simple terrain features and textured each. (They are both UV textured with the same texture in the same manner.) The test age with the smaller plane exports and loads fine in URU. The one with the larger plane exports fine but gives me an error when loading in game. It states that some files are corrupt and to reinstall URU. I'm at a loss. I went over the settings in each age and they appear to be identical, so I'm unsure why the age with the larger plane is crashing. :(

Hmm, perhaps a fifth version of the terrain will be in the works.

I don't know if anyone else has tried it, but I downloaded Terragen, the import scripts etc. It installed, and I created a fancy terrain with it. I exported it, imported into blender - cleaned up the mesh to get it under 8000 faces, then exported it as an .obj file.

Then I imported into my age, textured it etc, and exported the age. It exported fine, but crashed when I tried to link in. Has anyone else tried Terragen?

Edited for spelling.

Did you export your test file under a different name, but kept the sequence prefix number? That would be a reason for Uru to crash and tell you some game files are missing.

That did it for the latest age with a large plane, but didn't fix the original. No big deal I think, the later mesh looked better anyways, IMO. Thanks again Corvux, I should have caught that one myself!
