1) The GOW prefix, is the official GOW version, Trylon said he fixed a bug in the previous version.
2) Switch one window to scripts, select wizards -> PyPrp -> upgrade book (keep old objects)
3) To import a mesh from another blender file, click file -> append or link
Select the blender file containing the object
open the sub directory of the file and select objects
There you will see all you objects, just select one and it will be imported to your new blender scene.
4) There are no real guides yet, i'm still waiting for them to be released as well
When you select "create new book", the book now appears in the text window, just split a window and set it to text, use the drop down menu to select book.
To set collision to an object now, go to the "buttons" window, select the object, and click the "bounds" button in the logic tab, that sets infinite friction by default.
You can set collision by most methods there, I think (i'm trialling out the cylinder option), but if in doubt set the bounds to "Static TriangleMesh".
All textures now must be UV textured.
Importing a Cyan Age, now brings up a confirmation dialog, which you must now click yes to begin importing.
