Swim Region Question

When you use a straight swim region, how fast can you make the velocities of the current that pulls you back?

In Ahnonay that current is pretty strong.

uhmm..... as strong as you want? Just keep putting in big numbers and see what happens. :P

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this. Why don't you try it and let us know? I certainly haven't tried putting in "hurricane force water". ;)

in practice, IIRC around speeds of 2.0 you can barely swim against it in "walking" mode, and around speeds of 5 you can barely swim agains it in "running" mode

Well I've put in up to 100 and can swim against it just fine! :?

Here is a copy of the ALCscript:

Code: Select all
style: straight
straight:
    centerpoint: swimcenter1
    neardist: 9
    nearvel: 100
    fardist: 200
    farvel: 75

The other part the code (IE naming the region and stuff) is there, just showing the flags for Straight type.

I know Ahnonay is circular type swimming, but I wanted to used straight in this case.

I know very strong values used to work, maybe that has changed recently. I remember trying 'hurricane force' values as Nadnerb puts it, and it worked; which was pretty fun. :)

Still trying to get the swim current to work right.

Problem is, Ahnonay was circular, so I guess it's a bad model to go off of, but it's the only one that I know of. I'm trying to achieve the same effect of , you can swim out so far but, you don't get anywhere after that.

Maybe I should go circular too? Problem is I'm trying to understand the ALCscripting for circular.

WOAH!!!

Okay, THAT worked! Whew! My Avie was almost being THROWN up on to the shore! hehehehe, okay, now that I have the desired effect, I just need to work on the velocity so you don't feel like you're riding the rapids! :D
