Moving Clouds

Just wanted to share this with y'all.

After messing around with making the water in my pool and pond in Camp Bravo, I decided to see about making some clouds move around.

This made me pause and think. Simply putting in a plane over head would work, that's what we see in Kemo. But I wanted to do something more like in Relto, as far as the sky goes (the do the Kemo thing just below the island of course).

However, just putting in a plane wouldn't work either, even if it was curved, as the clouds would appear from no where and disappear into no where. That wouldn't look good.

So I took my sky dome, and in edit mode, selected the ring right at the cliff top levels. The ring extends in Z just above and below the cliff tops.
I then duplicated and seperated them into their own mesh, and then gave them the animated texture of some light clouds.

What I got when I linked in was some whispy (gotta work on my cloud texture that I made in 30 seconds in GIMP :D ) looking clouds moving in a clockwise motion around the Age. But they are subtle, and look like something you might see on a cloudy day here in RL. It impressed the heck out of me!

I should warn people right away, animation movement is limited to linear movement and scaling. Rotation isn't supported by Blender, and I'm not sure if Plasma supports it either. (Even if Plasma did, we'd have no way to get KeyFrames from Blender).

If you want a ring of surface clouds to "rotate" along the horizon, make a tube, and assign a texture along the tube, then scroll the texture to the right of left.

I'd be very surprised if Plasma didn't handle rotating textures. Yet, at the same time I fail to find even a single example of a rotating texture in Uru..

The "Tube" is exactly what I did. I have clouds "rotating" clockwise slowly around my Age just fine, using just the X offset. You can get nice diagnals using Y and X, an even neater kinds of angles using different values for Y and X.
