You mean, this post by Nadnerb in response to Moiety Jean's question?

Yep! It means you're missing a UV Mapped image. Since I started doing the lightmaps, half the time I forget to reload the new image on the lightmap layer, and later when I reload my blend file, I'm greeted with about half my objects I messed with as hot pink! :D

But that is what it means.

Thanks Robert (and Andy) ... it's been such a long time since this has happened to me ...and I remembered that post....did a search for "pink" but... hey, you know thie search function is not exactly helpful here... that was indeed the post I wanted... and it was as simple as just selecting the texture, then UV mode and reloading the texture into the UV window ... and POP... no more Pink... ;)

cheers guys!

I wanted to avoid adding a Blender-related section, because there's just so much stuff that could go in there! :o I now it should be useful but I fear it will end up being a mess; we'll see how this evolves..

very good point Aloys ... Blender issues are really a seperate item ... the problem is, it's almost impossible to find an answer to something like this over at the Blender website (I tried for a long time before posting again here) ... so... maybe we could have a seperate "Blender Troubleshooting" section ... though of course that's more work for someone else *cough* ... ;)

oh, and Robert, deleting the UV block does solve the "problem" ...but at a price ... you lose your UV mapping (which could have been a lot of work!, as in my case) ... so reloading the texture into the "empty" UV window (it appears "empty" when you have the object & (missing) texture selected) solves the "pink" issue without having to delete the UV block ... thus preserving your UV mapping ... ;)

I've extracted the Blender troubleshooting question into a separate Blender FAQ. This page will contain all basic blender questions, plus the troubleshooting section.

I also added Boblishman's answer to the pink question, in the case where you do want a texture to appear there.

That's awesome. The question was thoroughly answered in the troubleshooting FAQ in a brief, easy to comprehend way. ::big thumbs up::
Now if we could get "My object is all black in Shaded View" answered so well, I'd be a wiggly, happy puppy. :D

MJ, have you tried turning on the "VCol Light" button on all of your materials? That will use Vertex colours as added light, which makes it appear in the Render Preview very similar to how it will look in Plasma.
