Technical question

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Technical question

Postby Zander » Fri Jul 04, 2008 1:54 am

There's a lot about the Roadmap that I don't understand, but I do seem to have picked up the impression that Cyan releasing the "source" for their 3DS Max plugins means that the plugins could be effectively ported over to other 3D programmes.

Is this true, and if so, I wonder if that means some brilliant person might be able to produce a version that would work with Vue?

That would be the absolute ultimate ideal for me. I could save Blender for when I really wanted the sensation of banging my head against a brick wall wrapped in barbed wire and work with something I understand.

Could it happen?

I don't see why not, if you know someone willing and able to program a plugin for Vue, and assuming Vue supports third-party plugins. It's kinda the point of them releasing the source code, I think.

As long as Vue models with polygons (or can convert to polygons) and has a plugin architecture, yes, it can be ported.

And I'd like to see it...I know a couple people who prefer Vue. :)
