Importing Issues

Hi, I am new to blender and Pyprp, I tried it once before and got the same issues as I am now and lost interest. I downloaded all the current files, and when trying to import an Uru age I either get a alcresmanager.pyy error or this time I tried importing Kirel and everything was going fine until this error came up ValueError: invalid bit<s> set in mask does anyone know what that means? For the former issue I did some reading and see many get that error, is there a fix or workaround? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Importing is not supported in PyPRP at this time.

The focus has been adding more features when exporting Ages, rather than keeping import support updated and working.

Fair enough, but I know people who can successfully open these ages and I would like to learn and become familiar with all this, so is there an issue with blender or a script? I can paste the whole log if it will be helpful. Thank you for the quick response.

I think your best bet is to ask the people who got something importing. Not supported means that the devs won't help out. I'm going to give you a bit of info about it though: It seems to be broken a lots of places. There are lots of things to fix. Unless you know Python pretty well and are really curious I doubt you could fix it yourself.

I hope you can find someone to help you get it working. :)

A lot of the ages were able to be imported from an old build of PyPrp, with none of the support of any current feature of 1.5, the SVN tag of 1.2.1 may work, but your best bet would be to use an even older version here https://alcugs.almlys.org/svn, and look for pyprp 0.5a, I believe this was the last stable version before the fork from Almlys Alcugs.

Err... why is that SVN locked up? Isn't that against the GPL (that it happens to be under) to do that. :P

Because that link is wrong. The Alcugs subversion repository is here: http://alcugs.almlys.org/trac/browser/pyprp

An easier way to get PyPRP 0.5 is the Alcugs wiki: http://alcugs.almlys.org/GetPRPBlenderPlugin

Thanks for the help. my post may have seemed rude but I didnt intend it that way. I tried the old relto cone prp tutorial and had problems when it came to the coordinate interface part, and that intrigued me to explore further. I dont learn by explanation I have to see it, so my primary purpose is to tinker with moving things around visually with pyprp and see how it affects the coordinates matrices, and I still want to custom age build too eventually. I am sure with all the help here I can do it. Thanks again everyone.

update: No I keep getting an error, something with alcresmanager.py, it also tells me import is disabled because I didnt agree to the importing of cyan content, yet I never got the box popup to do so.

Popup? I am afraid there is nothing that advanced. Here is how you agree. Open up alcconfig.py in a text editor and look for this line:

Code: Select all
I_agree_that_I_am_NOT_going_to_use_CYAN_material_on_other_games_or_projects_without_written_permission_from_CYAN = 0

Change the last 0 to 1 and save the file.

Whoops, that link I posted is to download the SVN with a client such as Tortoise
