crash area

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

There is only one problem remaining in Galamay Area 2, which is the problem of the crash zone. the crash zone is at the top of some ladders, going from one cave to the next. right when u go into the next cave, it crashes. this obviously bugs me, since ur not supposed to CTD, ur supposed to go to the next cave.

yeah, i've tried moving the age up by a lot, it doesnt fix anything. i need more ideas... :(

Do you have any sort of region in that crash area?

Do you have vertex compression enabled (In alcconfig.py)? If so, disable it and the rest of the compression crap; it's extremely buggy.

Did you check to see if you have extra scenes interfering? (I know you've had trouble with them before!)
Also, to what extent have you scripted your Age? In python, I mean?

The pyprp plugin is still very experimental. The developerws are going to be rewriteing a large portion of the plugin soon... After the rewrite these problems might disappear although I can't promise anything.

ok well good news and bad news.

Good: The crash area is about half the size it was before, i can now succesfully get from cave 3 to cave 4 and back without a crash. :)

Bad: cave 3 to cave 5 still crashes, plus i tried installing it somewhere else and it crashes there, too. :(

(for those of you that don't know here's how the caves are laid out)
Code: Select all
    =====       ======
   |Cave 4|    |Cave 5|
    ====| |     ====| |
        | |         |_| <-crash area
      ==| |=========| |==
     |     Cave 3        |
      ===================

edit: ps: making those ascii art pix on forums is really difficult. the spacing gets messed up. ;)

Oh, is the crash area on part of a ladder? It seems (according to your detailed ascii depictions ;)) to be in part of a shaft, yes?
