Terrain Modeling Techniques

Postby Jman » Mon Apr 12, 2010 5:46 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm new to terrain modeling and indeed an amateur at 3d modeling in general, but I was wondering what terrain modeling techniques are most frequently used for Uru Ages. I have seen and read tutorials which support using NURB Surfaces, Plane Meshs and Grid Meshs, but I'm not sure which technique to go with. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I guess it depends on the software you use for modeling...

In blender you can use all three methods you already mentioned.
There is no "best way".
The "best way "is the one which results to come close to what you wish to model.
It depends completely on your skill.
you may choose for heightmaps, or for sculpting or for modeling beginning with a basic subdivided shape.
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.
