Ripples, Puddles and Footsteps.....

I was able to get Footsteps, along with Puddles and Ripples working:

Ripples:

Footsteps:

In both of these, a key thing is the "Intensity" and "Scale" settings under each manager. In the Ripples, I have the Scale set to 750% (max is 10,000 %). Footsteps Intensity at a 100%

I tried to use "Wake" for the water, but it doesn't seem to work (nothing shows up). Cyan's documentations says that Puddles are for the avatar feet, and that for other body parts (such as swimming), you should use Ripples. I'm wondering if "Wake" will only work with swim regions. Have to try that out.

This one was easy to do. I'll write up a tutorial when I get a chance.

(edited to correct mistakes)

Great great work. It so nice to see people doing the hard work of figuring these setting-heavy things out for the first time. Looking forward to the tutorial.

btw: why do you put all the pictures in spoiler tags? Makes them difficult to view.

I think someone grumped at me once about having the pics not in spoiler tags a couple of years ago.....can't remember....here I'll take them out.

And in the mean time, the tutorial is up:

Thanks for the tutorial. Very easy to follow.

Perhaps this isn't the best place for this question but did you experiment with subworlds yet? I just can't get them to work. The manual doesn't say anything about them either.

No I have not messed with them yet. I'm trying to get Rain to work......particle system works a LOT different for rain.

However, I imagine that how subworlds are done in Blender with the GoW Plugin is going to be a lot like Cyan's plugin, but you get to do point and click instead. Here, take a read in the GoW Wiki about Subworlds if you've never messed with them before, it might help (or it might not, I just don't know yet, heh):

I'm doing a video tutorial on rain and snow and particles in general at the moment.
Just to compare our approaches ... do you also get your rain particles by setting the X-scale value down as low as possible?

Thank for the link to the tutorial.

Yes I do.

If you look at the raindrop texture cyan uses, it's like 15 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, with a feathered white line in the center. Quite easy to make in Gimp Shop.

But if you leave the scaling up, you get these REALLY fat streaks, heheheh.

I still don't have my rain falling right, I keep getting interupted by my family to do things while working on the numbers.

Oh hey, when you get your new Video Tutorials done, I'll link them in my tutorials. While I try to make mine as easy as possible with lot's of pictures, nothing beats video tutorial, except maybe real, live class room instruction, heh.

Which I'm making my rain tutorial right now, and I'm editing my Snow one too.

That's sounds great. I know I'm not giving enough credit in my videos ... I haven't mentioned anybody yet. I'll definitely mention you and agenotfound in the tutorial on water :)
