Error when Exporting with Cyan's Plugin.

Error when Exporting with Cyan's Plugin.

Postby I.Brattin » Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:20 pm

I started a new age the other day and with my problems with Max 7 so far (Andy can fill ya all in on that) I went instead and imported a new model from Max 2009 into Blender. Everything exports in Blender fine, but crashes Uru. I tried everything I could think of to fix it without success.

So I thought I would try it in Max 7 instead (I can export as a .3ds file in Max 2009 and Max 7 will read that, thought it won't read a .Max file saved in Max 2009 go figure.) When I try and export it via Cyan's plugin in Max 7 I get the following error.

Convex Hull Creation failed for physical mesh9.mesh94

Any idea how to fix that?

Are the mesh a convex mesh? PlasmaMax might check before exporting non-convex meshes as convex colliders.

I don't even know how to check in Max 7 if its convex or not.

Easiest thing might be to upload the file so that we can have a look at it.

I suggest to export your objects in .obj format. .3ds is very outdated, very buggy and very unreliable. Model scale problem is what comes to my mind first, and there are many more.

To check the convexity of your object you can use Reactor utility. Open Reactor tools and there should be "Check convexity" button in the Utils scroll.

The object is concave. Out of curiosity I deleted it and it came up with the same error on a different object. So I deleted it. There were a few that were concave, once they were all deleted it exported.

Due to the number of them, I'm not sure if it would be worth it to make them convex, if they can be without remodeling.

Thanks everyone for your help.
