Droping In

Hey. It is I. More time has passed and I can now create basic animations and know the interface of Blender. I want to put these to the test but first I would like to know how to create a link in point and how I could use my uru character to drop in and explore the age. This is really so I can have an acurate size scale of my age.

Note: I am running uru on uru llive and not the versioon you can buy at the store. WIll this matter at all?

Ok, If You are using Blender, then:
- Did you installed PyPRP?
- Did You installed Drizzle?
- Drizzle will only with Uru:Complete Chronicles, or Uru:Ages Beyond Myst + Path to the Shell expansion.

Right now playing fan ages is possible only in offline versions of URU mention above.

Well I belive I hhave installed the first thing but not Drizzle. Now that I know I need offline uru i'm sortof stuck on porportion. How about this. Can anybody tell me if that little square plane that blender gives you at the start is enough for a man to walk on?

In Blender create a cylinder of 2 units width, and 6.5 height. It is a quite good estimation of avatar size.

If You installed PyPRP , then switch one of widows to "scripts window",
and then in it do "Scripts / Add / PyPRP / Creat a New SpawPoint".

That will insert empty (where You have Your 3d Cursor) which represents Link in point.

All in all I suggest to go though this tutorial http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Your_Very_First_Age,
and later this: http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Getting_Started_With_Writing.

P.S.
More about Drizzle: http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Drizzle

(Theoretically You can start with just PyPRP but with Drizzle You will be able to test Your ages in URU).

You can get the following 5 games from http://www.gog.com/en/search/ for less than $10 each and all 5 will run on Win XP and Vista. I am running all 5 on a Vista Netbook

The Manhole
Myst (Masterpiece Edition)
Real Myst
Riven
URU (Complete Chronicles)

Thank you very much Egon for your formula of people porportions! It would kinda stink if I made this totally awsome age and when everyone links in its the size of a lego block!

Also wamduskasapa ( can I call you wam? you have a long name ) thanks for that link. That will very much help in the future when I wish to aquire offline uru or if I wish for a heart warming Rivin childhood flashback!

If you must call me Wam then do so. The name is Dakota Isanti Sioux and the combination of Wamduska = Serpent or Snakes = Whah-mdoo-shkah and Sapa = adj Black = sha-pah in other words Black Snake..

1 blender unit = 1 foot (~30.5 centimeters). Male Avatars are actually 6 unit high. (if you use the PyPRP Importer you can import the custom avatars (Rand, Dr Watson etc).

Side note: I have added a 'Checking scale' article on the wiki (imported from my article on the alcugs wiki); including a link to download the dummy avatar object (which I have slightly improved for the occasion).

Aloys did you make Hector? I'd really like to know. Oh also do you know how I could add a link in point?
