Nope, the glowing KI symbol is a layer animation.

Yes, I just checked for my own curiosity, you can animate the opacity of a layer using a plLayerAnimation.

Now, the main stumble block for LayerAnimations is that the class relies on other horribly complicated and undocumented classes. (Also, as much as I'd love to get those classes documented, the main documentation guy tends to get distracted whenever he sees something interesting in another class and moves onto that one for a while). :P
