Fog and 3DS Max 7 with Plazma Plugins

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Fog and 3DS Max 7 with Plazma Plugins

Postby Karkadann » Sat Feb 12, 2011 11:22 am

Fog seems to be a popular item lately, with all the various colors and densities, I was wondering if any of you people would be good enough to produce a publicly available and simple tutorial that us technically challenged age creators could understand.

Thanks in advance

Adam is off topic.

From the GoG discussions, I understand that the guilds exist to support their members so they can contribute to their community. I hope you find your support.

You are also off topic. =)

I'm sure Karkadann will get his support when someone who uses the 3dsmax plugin pots in this topic. - Adam doesn't, I don't, and if you do, why didn't you help, instead of taking a pot shot at Hoikas and the GoW?

Hi,
Maybe I can help.
A few months ago I experimented with some Fog settings in Max and I found out that you need a Pythonfile for it.
This is how I did it:

Create a box, cylinder or sphere for your Region.
In the Component Manager, choose Region Sensor and apply it to this Region.
Also give it a Pythonfile Component.
Under Utilities and Component Util, click on the Python Component and choose from the list of commands the "xFogSet".
Under FogMode choose "Linear" (this worked fine for me).
Choose the Fogh color you want, but use decimals instead just typing Red, Blue or Yellow. (the same Decimals you use for changing the FogSettings in the City)
Well, start, distance and density settings speaks for it self.
And by RegionSensor you choose the RegionSensor name you applied.
Hope I helped you with this information.

If you want to set the fog for the whole Age, I don't think PlasmaMax has a way to do this (actually, I think it would be part of the Asset Manager, which we weren't given).
You can create a .fni file using PlasmaShop.

Using regions is probably only necessary if you're having changing fog colours.

Well it kinda worked but it kinda didn't. when I link in there's no fog, I still hafta fool around with the offline ki and /fcol and /fdens to see the fog. So I got half the battle won.
