Coming Soon

Postby bnewton81 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:37 am

I am thinking that the best way to learn is to teach, so I am about to starting work on video tutorials of how to setup and build an age to be posted on youtube. It will take me a week or so to post the first one on downloading and installing appropriate software, as i have to make sure i actually know how to do that stuff. :) But wanted to give you guys a heads up. My youtube name is either bnewton81 or Brent Newton. Keep and eye out for them. I'll post again when i have more news.

Ok, I've made a promise to myself to get this tut done today. More I think about it the less i feel it is needed, but that's not the point. I said I'd do it and i will. So look for it if you like on youtube around 8pm CST. Leave comments and suggestions.

Just be sure to post it so that people can actually see what you're doing.

A lot of the video tutorials on youtube are such low res you can't pick out what's being selected or any values being entered.

If you don't know it yet, http://www.blenderguru.com has pretty good video tutorials. He forgets to mention some key combinations though and as you may have noticed, key combinations are almost /everything/ in Blender :/

edit: I am not sure what makes video tutorials better then normal tutorials with pictures though, I prefer the latter myself.
Code: Select all
long longestTimeWithoutPlayingMoula = (new Date()) - (new Date(2014, 9, 26));

You guys aren't going to believe it. I made a great tutorial using camtasia studio and I can't get the damn thing to load into youtube. uploads and then is only 52 sec. long. the video is 10min. long. This is very aggravating. I'll keep working on it, but I may have to do the whole thing over again in a cheap video recorder. Just my luck.

Please be aware that Dustin's wiki you linked to is just mirroring the installation information - the source for the PyPRP plugin (and where it will be updated when anything changes) is at http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Installing_PyPRP
I'll add the link to the video do that page :)

EDIT: Also, Ages Beyond Myst does *not* suffice for age creation. PyPRP and the Offline KI require the Path of the Shell expansion pack.
And the UAM KI Plugin is currently optional, no age is using it yet. Required for age building is only the Offline KI (unless you are using some other tool to reach your ages). The files of the AgeInformation package are contained in the Offline KI, but it's still a good idea to install the separate package as it is intended to release updates without making a full Offline KI release.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

I like the effects (zooms and pans, drawings, etc.). Looks professional.
Very helpful.
