LOD meshes?

Postby bnewton81 » Thu Mar 24, 2011 2:40 pm

Is there a way to vary the detail of a mesh by having 2 one for high detail (up close) and one for low detail (far away)? I know that a game I play called Eve does this and I was wondering if it is possible in URU, and whether it is preferable to other methods?

Actually, there is a way to get the object to reveal more detailed textures as the player is up close, and a when far away. Take a look at this:

BTW - I'm on Eve too. Dynamic Intervention is my Corp, and Orphans Of Eve is our Alliance. I'm on there as: Andy Legate, heh. I normally hang out in Amarr space in the Kador region, but our corp is all over Eve.

Very good tut! I have read it before, but nice to read again. Funny how stuff that used to confuse me now makes sense. I knew of that method. It does seem the best method too. Better than exporting 2 meshes for every mesh you make.
