Blender Text

Does text work in uru? Not extruded text or mesh text. I was wondering if i could add text to objects without having to uv map it.

If I could give you a sure answer, I would.

My guess is no, but there we go, maybe there is a workaround that I am not aware of...

I woudl UV-Map it anyways, even if its just a white texture. Also, you can unwrap your model, and then bake the material you have already put on there unto the UV-Map and safe that as a picture, then write the text where you want it and tadaa! Text on there, without having to do any other photoshop on the rest of the texture.

AND- there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Your question isn't very clear to me, you always have to uv map for Pyprp so "without having to uv map it" is confusing.

when you add text in blender it is like a curve (but not a curve). It is visable to the camera as long as you are perpendicular to the text, but it has no depth. >>>> I think i may have answered my own question. You wouldn't be able to uv map to text as there are no verts, so it wouldn't export. And come to think of it uv mapping text onto objects would be a much easier method than adding a text object and then uv mapping that. I guess this was a bit of a silly question. I'll try to think more before posting. :?

ah okay you mean text like that after all. I thought you meant that with extruded or mesh text so you didn't want it. :S

Anyway it's a curve , but you can add depth, and either change it to a normal mesh and uv map it.So

1. make the text you want
2. in the button section you are looking for "extrude" (gives it depth) and "bevel depth"(gives it thickness). Apart from that you can play a bit with the other buttons in that tab like "bevresol" and "back/front/3d".
3. Once you have the text like you want it, go to "object-> Convert Object type" you want "Mesh" in the following menu.(you cannot go back btw)
4. Now it is a normal text shaped mesh.

That what you were looking for?
Code: Select all
long longestTimeWithoutPlayingMoula = (new Date()) - (new Date(2014, 9, 26));
