Import to 3ds Max?

Postby Rabbit » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:09 am

Just a theoretical question I've been wondering about...

Having been trying to get Ages imported into Blender with only minor success, I was wondering how difficult it is to get Ages into 3ds?

Assuming I had a copy of version 7, can this be done easily, do would I need some special plugin, possibly aside from Cyan's own one?

To get ages imported into max you have to go through blender. This is the only reliable way to ensure everything (UV Maps, Materials/Textures, Meshes, Regions, Dummy objects etc) are properly imported and moved over to Max. Cyan never bothered to make an import function for their plugin because they had everything that made the age already (The original max files etc) so there was no need to import after the age was finished when they could just make a new export with their new changes to those max files.
