Terrain textures not working

So I used 3DS max to make the terrain for my Uru age but I can't get the textures to work in game, I read so many tutorials/watched videos now that I just feel like pulling out my hair over it. I tried applying vertex colours and assigning textures to them but I can't seem to figure any of that out, But even if i try to just apply a single texture it doesn't work in game. I'm so frustrated with it all now, I been at it for two days straight, first day just getting my test age to work in game, then now trying to get textures to work. I just want to be able to essentially 'paint on' my textures like you could with easygen but my brain is turning into mush trying to get it working with 3dsmax (I tried blender, Didn't like using it, I've had some experience with 3ds max so I'm more familiar with it).

You have to use the "Plasma Standard" Material in the Material Editor. I think you used only the Standard material.

Nope, Used Plasma Standard. It does keep coming up with UVW Wrap which I tried to apply but it didn't seem to make a difference.

(Also I realized I posted this in the wrong category sorry)

"The object has suspicious UVW coordinates on it. You should apply an Unwrap UVW modifir to it"

I added it to the modifier list but I guess I'm doing it wrong...

So if you assign a "Unwrap UVW" Modifier this error does not disapper? Maybe you should try "UVW Map". It should have the same effect as Unwrap UVW. If you test your age on a MOULa server, don't forget to copy the ..._District_Textures.prp.

Somehow I got it to work... No idea how but I have one problem now the texture of the terrain is really stretched out, how do I change it? and how can I use multiple textures in a simple way (For example paint on some soil/stone etc.)

Hi Fay,

When your textures are stretch out, you should raise the tiling a bit. In the Material Editor there are the options for it but
you can also apply a Unwrap Modifier to the object and change the tiling also on the x and y axis, how higher the tiling, the clearer the texture will be.
But be warned, the higher the tiling, the more you get repeating the textures and sometimes that dont look so well, you have to play with the settings till you find the right settings you like.

For multiple textures on a object you can use instead of Plasma Standard, the Plasma Composite.
In the Plasma Composite you can apply the materials, how it works its to long to discribe inhere, there are good tutorials inhere to help you with it.
When you need help with the Plasma Composite you can always give me PN.

In the Documentation of the Max plugin is a big passage about the Materialeditor, Materials and how to use some of them. Maybe this will also help you.

Okay so I watched several tutorials, read a bunch of articles and read the Max plugin documentation, I can now make a mesh have multiple textures but I can't get them to blend and I haven't been able to find a clear solution on how to do it anywhere other than some vague talk about masks and vertex paint but no clarity on how those methods are done.

I've already tried to use vertex paint beforehand, I can apply the colours but then I can't assign textures to those colours. I also found a lot of tutorials about various programs used for various games to make terrain which do exactly what I'm trying to accomplish but which I assume wouldn't work with Uru (E.g. Udk). It also talks about it in the Max plugin documentation under multi-sub but it doesn't explain it very well at all and I don't understand what I'm supposed to do to get it to work.

If anyone knows of a website/tutorial that explains it well or could explain the steps to me it would be of great help.

(In the meantime I'm going to work on a building)
