I have been working on a project over on the MOUL boards creating 'Teledahn II' You can see my progress here.

So far I have been modeling in SketchUp, using a rendering plugin and Photoshop to create the final images. However, I am interested in translating my work into a fan-created age that is playable. I understand that 3dsMax is the tool I should be looking at, and since i want to learn it anyways, I don't think importing (or even re-modeling the entire thing) should be too bad. However, it is everything else (programming, sounds, code, importing into URU, and I don't know what else, that seems daunting.)

I'm curious at what opportunities there might be here in the GoW to make this age a reality and how much time/effort it might take. Although I'm not new to the world of Myst, I'm very new to the URU age making process. Any pointers on how long it might take, what sort of hurdles to expect, etc. would be great help.

I've never made an Age, but I think I can give you a few pointers:
1) You can't modify Cyan files, so any models you make would have to be in separate files (you can however "merge" your Age with the existing Teledahn by adding it as a "page" in the .age file; I'm sure someone can explain it better than me).

3) If you need assistance with programming, I'd be willing to lend a hand. I've been meaning to try coding for Ages for a while, but no opportunity has (yet) come up.

I havent been following the thread that closely but im wondering considering the size and complexity of Teledahn 2 would it be easer to add a linking book to Teledahn as prp file that links you to your Teledahn 2 as a separate part of the same age?

No interage linking allowed. A book could be added to somewhere in the city, hoods however that allow to link to Teledahn II. However then you get the problem of those in Teledahn I not showing up in Teledahn II in the KI list. Examples of this are all the city areas. Spyroom, BaronCityOffice, Great Zero etc etc.
