Some stuff I made

Shorah! My first post here, and I'm so glad to be here among all you creative Mysters. Anywhoo...

I've been experimenting in Maya recently. My first attempt at an environment is what I've dubbed a "K'veer Dungeon" - essentially a bunch of dark forgotten rooms which *could* be hidden in the depths of the K'veer mansion, possibly accessible from a door in the prison room.

Here's a D'ni lamp which I designed:

(Sorry, Yali, I hope you don't mind me taking this one)

For doing simple things, it's easy. If you want to make something complicated, there's a lot of other background that you need to understand (basically, a really steep learning curve). At least, in my opinion.

Yali, I like the design on the second one. And in the third one, did you make the background as well? It looks cool!

like any 3d program, Maya takes some getting used to :). Plus the price isnt really for a home user, more than for companies. They do have a free version to try out, but it places a water mark on all of your rendered projects. you can find it here:

Yeah, and the irony is that they also bought the company that makes 3DSMax. So now the top 3D modeling tools (that originally competed) are owned by the same company.
