Any Reason Not To Use Python 2.7.7 or 2.7.8?

Ack! I have a vague memory as to why Python 2.6.6 is needed for Blender 2.49b and PyPRP 1.6.1. But I just can't get my finger on it! Is there any reason I can't install and use the latest builds of Python, PyYAML and PIL, including Python 2.7.8?

Thank you for refreshing my memory!

Nevermind, I figured it out myself.

Blender 2.49b must use Python 2.6.x. It is unable to find Python 2.7.x for some reason. Directing it to the Python/Scripts folder or adding a Python27 environmental variable will not help.
