Snap-to Grids or Dragging?

Postby Nek'rahm » Wed Dec 12, 2007 2:12 pm

Okay, the whole scaling thing is weird, cause I never know if it's exactly what I want.

Is there any way to just DRAG sides? Instead of scaling them?

and if so

Is there a Grid type that will snap the movement to exact blocks on the grid?

Just wanted to know, I'm still new at Blender.

you can shift-s and select "selection -> grid" to snap the selected vertices to the nearest grid point, and if you grab and move (g) faces, you can stretch your objects. You can constrain grabbing movement, (or any transform) to an axis by pressing x, y, or z, or by clicking the middle mouse button to select the "nearest axis", and you can select faces instead of vertices by selecting the triangular button along the bottom of the 3D view while in edit mode.

Does that answer your questions? Create more? :?

There are two ways to learn that kind of things:

- You really need that function right now, so you do a specific search and find tips on doing it. Try googling "blender scale mesh" or something. I did that last night and learned how to add/remove vertexes in meshes.

- You follow the tutorials on blender.org.
Excellent tutorials, this is good for learning general concepts, such as the Blender interface.

Thanks to both of you

Nanderb really answered my questions tho

Snap-to grids... works...

I saw the faces thing... but it might work just as is

Any way to combine faces and snap to? That way your faces would lock into the grid boxes
