Installing POTS on WinXP ???

Postby Fezz » Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:31 am

Anyone know how to get Path of The Shell to load up with WinXP?
My disc just spins and no installation Wizard appears.

I am keeping track of the steps it takes to go through in loading and using ULMs into POTS.

For me the first step was upgrading IE6 to IE7 so I could gain access to GoW web site.

I will write some verbage on all this when I finally get this all up and running. I dont see this issue has been covered yet or at least none that I can find yet.

I do have a powerfull Win98 gaming computer with POTS installed. However I would like to get POTS to work on this Dell I am on now which is WinXP.

There are some DVD-R/W and CD-R/W drives that won't read the disks because of the copy protection scheme. If you're networked; you can install from a share and add the 'no-cd' patch to get it going. I would expect it to read the PoTS disk if it reads the URU:ABM disk.

I had this problem when I wanted to install Uru CC on my new computer. I could not install the game because the disk could not be read properely. I had to make a copy of the cd's with my old Pc and then install the game with the copys. After the installation I could use the original disk when playing. But it played better when I downloaded the "no-cd" patch.

Err, forgive me if I write something very stupid here, but if it's just a matter of the CD not auto-running properly when inserted, just "explore" the disc and double-click the installer icon. (or check your auto-start settings)

Normally that would do the trick. But if he has the same problem as I had, the install will just hang up. If he can manage open the drive to explore the cd. I could not even get that far. But ofcourse, Fezz' problem can be something other than what I had. For his sake I hope so :)
