hello everyone,
as some of you have noticed I have been away these past two weeks, this is not because I moved to some remote tropical island (unfortunately) but because my ISP messed up big time and shut down my internet access! and after two weeks (and countless phone calls to their incompetent hotline) they still haven't been able to get it to work again.. You have no idea how mad I am. (in the end I'd rather have move to some remote tropical island )
Unfortunately I have no other easy access to internet around here, I am presentely using a friend computer who was nice enough to let me use it today while he is away, so i can catch up on the most pressing internet-related things. Fortunately that'll allow me to exchange emails with my ISP to fix my situation (yes, they ask me send EMAILS to get my connection back.. how retarded is that?? )
I have a huge amount PMs and mails to take care of, and a dozen of threads to reply to, I apologize for all this, but the situation has been difficult for me lately. Unfortunately I probably won't have the time to do all of this today, so that might have to wait a couple more days.
I especially saw that the new RAD contest is starting which is utterly cool ! I'll reply to the specific thread.

Also: if you are in France and you need a new ISP: DON'T USE WANADOO-ORANGE! (unless that's the only broadband ISP in your area) Sorry, I had to say it.

Heh, just switched away from that provider in my country
They were taken over by a company I didn't trust doing stable internet access at all.
Not when their commercials only say "Cheaper, so its more fun".

Actually I can relate to your experience.
Back when I was playing MOUL, I was on a high speed broadband service, and in the early months I was able to logon without a problem, then at about this time last year, it all came to a grinding halt, 2 months of sending emails to my ISP and harassing Cyan to stop limiting lower bandwidth users, I was forced to switch ISP's, at MUCH expense, I think I racked up about NZ$3000 of gear in the end, then I lost out on 2 sparklies when I could finally get back I had to apologize repeatably to my hood mates as to why I hadn't been able to catch up with them.

Cyan never did disclose what their EXPECTED bandwidth was, just, to, logon, after that everything is peachy, reports on several threads was that the magic number had to be 384kb/s though the actual bandwidth was actually higher, my connection at the time was maxed out at 256kb/s.

At that time I was really angry.

Anyway enough of my grumbling, i'm glad your back, the actual contest starts tomorrow.

I hope you won't be bogged down too much between Ahra and your ISP.

uhm, this begs the question then:

You have the first part of the contest as a merger where everyone is suppose to send their shells by the end of today to Aloys, so that they judges may make a comparison. The Wiki says those that had preexisting shells, so I'm confused already (as my shell is sitting empty until tomorrow).

So with Aloys having ISP problems, are we all still to send our shells for the first merger today?

Yes, but if your shell is completely empty, then there is no need to submit anything.

My ISP finally got its stuff together so it looks like I'm back for good. I'll still have to switch ISP later and that'll cause me some downtime too.. I 'll probably do that next month so as to avoid a loss of connection during the contest.
Now I need to spend the time catching up on all I missed..
